Always wondered if when I'm apart of a giant mining pool whether I'm actually not really mining for coins but just being paid in coins for my computer power, the use of which could be God knows what.

Is this possible?

Is there a way to know?

Well yeah that but where they are actually lying and really using the power for nefarious reasons, or good although then they wouldn't need to lie.

See I am too dumb to really know the science behind crypto, I get it but I don't really know how it works I just believe it works and it is what I am told it is.

Surely you could make more money / do more with the power of that type of supercomputer compared to actually using it to mine for coins.

Thanks for the link btw, I have a GTX 1070 and now have a benchmark comparison.

I believe that when you put your gear on seti or cloud folding, you are basically being paid in coins for your hash... Other than that...

Well it's possible I suppose but if in the end you're paid for it the equivalent of what your computer would mine then I guess it's all the same for you right ?
